Chuckles 76, Laughs 10, Belly Laughs 1
I was really looking forward to this movie because I became a fan of Weird Al in my teens. I purchased at least 2 of his albums, really liked his first movie (UHF) and I respect anyone who can make money, making others laugh because we could do with a lot more laughing and a lot less unhappiness. This movie has a lot of stars and Weird Al is played by Daniel Radcliffe and co-stars Rainn Wilson as "Dr. Demento." I love it that Daniel Radcliffe made so much money from Harry Potter that he now only wants to play interesting characters (Swiss Army Man, Guns Akimbo, etc...)! The movie itself is a parody of a biopic and I'd characterize it more as a "chuckler" than a gut splitting/laugh-till-you-cry type of comedy. If you like Weird Al's music, it's likely that you'll like the movie.
