Notes: I'd seen this movie some time in the 90's and had totally forgotten about it. I had a hard time finding it streaming but eventually found it on Amazon Prime for rental at $0! I really love so much about this movie. The premise is the wealthy father of a young woman who has the worst luck in the world goes missing on her vacation and he hires someone from his firm (Martin Short) with equally bad luck to try and find her. He's accompanied by a legitimate detective (Danny Glover) and this is a truly hilarious movie. Martin Short in one of my favorite roles ever! Would I watch it again? YES!

Notes: When I saw this movie listed on Netflix recently, I was so confused. There is another Dumb and Dumber movie (other than the "When Harry Met Lloyd" sequel) and this one stars both Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels and somehow I have never heard of it???? What the heck was I so busy doing in 2014 that I missed this? I thought, maybe it's not funny and it was a flop and that's why I've never heard of it. So, I watched it and honestly, I was laughing so often that I thought that this one might outscore the original. WOW!!! SHOCKING!!! I enjoyed seeing another one of the co-stars from the original movie (won't spoil the surprise) and lots of similar gags/story lines that were really fun to watch 20 years after the original movie. WAIT? 20 YEARS between movies and now (in 2024 as I write this review) it's 30 YEARS since the original? Unbelievable!!! Would I watch it again? YES! Chuckles 48, Laughs 20, Belly Laughs 7
Notes: Steve Martin and Lorne Michaels wrote the movie and it's directed by John Landis. This movie stars Steve Martin, Martin Short and Chevy Chase, three huge comedians in the 1980's. The premise is 3 out of work actors are hired by a Mexican village that is threatened by bandits. This is a pretty funny movie and I'm definitely a fan of the 3 stars. My favorite scene is the scene in the song/dance scene in the bar. It's a cute/feel good movie and it's especially fun to see Martin Short so young. Would I watch it again? Quite likely I would. |
