44. Meet the Fockers (2004) - 85.5 Points
Chuckles 47, Laughs 17, Belly Laughs 15 Notes: This movie is the sequel to Meet The Parents. In the first movie, Gaylord met Pam's parents including the uptight, ex-CIA father (Jack) played by Roberto De Niro. Now her parents are taking a trip to meet Gaylord's parents before the wedding. His father is played by Dustin Hoffman and mother played by Barbara Streisand, who are loveable, sexual hippies (the exact opposite of Jack). It's a funny premise and there are laughs throughout. Dustin Hoffman is great in everything he does and I felt especially impressed with Barbara Streisand who really owned this role. It was also a fun surprise to see Owen Wilson again, who now speaks Hebrew and plays the pan flute, because, of course he does! Although it didn't score quite as many points as the original, it was very close. I always get a bit "irked" when a movie scores slightly higher than Duck Soup because it's been one of my favorite movies of all time but I learned recently that Meet the Fockers is my daughter's best friend's (hi Parmiss!) favorite movie of all time so I guess that makes me feel a little better and honestly, it earned this score as it's genuinely that funny! Would I watch it again? Probably.
