11. Top Secret (1984) - 128 Points
Chuckles 74, Laughs 34, Belly Laughs 19 Notes: Shortly after this movie came out, my cousin Jon would enthusiastically ask me, "have you seen Top Secret yet?" Even when I had, he still asked. This movie is made in the Airplane/Naked Gun style of comedy which makes sense since David Zucker wrote and directed all of these movies. Based on his documentary, this movie seems like an embarrassment to Val Kilmer, I guess because he was a Julliard trained actor but this is a seriously silly, stupid and ridiculously funny movie that he should be proud of since it's ranked higher than many other highly-acclaimed and highly-rated comedies. Top Secret is a forgotten gem of comedy movies. I love the underwater fight scene, Val back-spinning through the floor of the restaurant, the hilarious "Germanic" dance in the ballroom, the "skeet surfin'" song/video. Great fun! I remember it being funny. I admit to being slightly shocked that it ranked this high on the list but it earned this spot. Would I watch it again? Yes.
