44. Liar Liar (1997) - 84 Points
Chuckles 38, Laughs 20, Belly Laughs 15 Notes: I honestly don't understand how/why for 30 years, Hollywood portrayed kids with the "Cousin Oliver" (Brady Bunch)/Adam Rich (8 is Enough) haircut that NO kids in real life had but here it is again, with Jim Carrey's son (Max). Hopefully this is the last that we've seen of it. Despite the miss on the haircut, Liar Liar is a very funny movie and somehow I'd missed it when it came out. It features Jim Carrey at his absolute best, which is saying a lot. He's so hilarious and animated, he reminds me of a young Jerry Lewis and I mean that as the highest compliment. I was amused to see that Jim Carrey's character used a version of "the claw" as I did with my kids when they were younger. Lying is such a big part of our lives (more often than not, it isn't for malicious reasons) so it's oddly uncomfortable and hilarious to see what would happen if you couldn't tell a lie, even for 24 hours. This is a fun movie and I'd highly recommend it. Would I watch it again? Yes.
