79. Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) - 39.5 Points
Chuckles 25, Laughs 12, Belly Laughs 5 Notes: Another HUGE, iconic movie that seemingly every teenager in the 80's saw and loved and ranked as one of their favorite movies (along with Animal House and Caddy Shack), largely because of Spicoli, the sex. Fast Times marked the beginning of teenage/high school comedies set in California that influenced much of the rest of the country at the time like Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure and Clueless after it. It's also a great snapshot of life in 1982 with girls dressing like Pat Benatar, malls, vans shoes, designer jeans, rubik's cubes, leg warmers, arcades and a style of talk that was largely foreign the the rest of the country and world at the time. I was shocked that there was a smoking section in the movie theatre and also surprised to see the "Licorice Pizza" on a mirror in one of the mall restaurants. It also became very clear that Timon (the meerkat from The Lion King) is based on Damon (Mike Damone) from this movie. This movie is as sexual as it was funny. Much more sex and nudity than I remember, though those were the hallmarks of comedies in the 80's. Would I watch it again? Yes.
