Val Kilmer passed away early today and I thought it only right to watch one of his movies that I haven't watched in a very long time. As luck would have it, my wife recently purchased Real Genius recently as it is one of her favorite VK movies. This movie came out the same year I graduated High School. I hadn't seen it in so long that I didn't remember much of it so it was fun to watch it again. It's a very "mid-80's" movie style though surprisingly without nudity, which was pretty popular in the 80's. Though this movie didn't make me laugh out loud a lot (6 chuckles and 2 laughs), it was amazing to see Val Kilmer's bright smile, the energy of his youth and his cool hair. I was surprised how much the co-star "Mitch" played by Gabriel Jarret resembled Sarah Jessica Parker. It was so much fun to see "Uncle Rico" (John Gries) play a central role as "Lazlo." I really enjoyed this movie, especially on this day. RIP Val Kilmer. Thank you for the memories!
