Chuckles 48, Laughs 20, Belly Laughs 7
Notes: Steve Martin and Lorne Michaels wrote the movie and it's directed by John Landis. This movie stars Steve Martin, Martin Short and Chevy Chase, three huge comedians in the 1980's. The premise is 3 out of work actors are hired by a Mexican village that is threatened by bandits. This is a pretty funny movie and I'm definitely a fan of the 3 stars. My favorite scene is the scene in the song/dance scene in the bar. It's a cute/feel good movie and it's especially fun to see Martin Short so young. Would I watch it again? Quite likely I would.

Chuckles 53, Laughs 22, Belly Laughs 10
Notes: I'd seen the SNL spoof of this movie with Jim Carrey but somehow, I'd never gotten around to watching this actual movie itself. This stars Will Farrell and Chris Kattan as two idiot brothers who are trying to make it into the "cool nightclub" to score with girls. The problem is they have a hard time making it in. I LOVE the dance floor scenes, the beepers and I'd totally forgotten about Richard Greico who apparently was still a big deal in 1998. Would I watch this movie again? Yes. Chuckles 46, Laughs 12, Belly Laughs 2
Notes: What's really strange is that I thought I'd watched all of the Shrek movies but apparently, I'd missed this one somehow. This film finds Fiona's father dying, he'd like Shrek to rule the kingdom but Shrek tries to persuade an alternate (Alfred) who is a distant relative (?) to rule instead. Fiona is pregnant and she's reluctant to tell Shrek who seems against having kids and (Prince) Charming makes a run for the thrown by taking the "bad guys" from all of the story tales and rallying them to his side. I did chuckle a lot but this wasn't my favorite of of the Shrek series and although #4 (Shrek Forever After) didn't score quite so many points, I liked it more but #1 is still the best for me. Would I watch it again? No. |
