Johnny English, 2003
I much prefer Rowan Atkinson in the role of Johnny English to Mr. Bean though I'll say, Johnny English scored fewer points at the 40 minute mark than the Bean movie. Johnny English is a parody of the James Bond movies and it wasn't bad. It simply just hadn't registered enough laughs to even have a chance to make it on the list. This would be a fun movie for kids to watch. I was a little shocked to see that two sequels to the original so they must have made some money.

Chuckles 43, Laughs 12, Belly laughs 5 Notes: I honestly didn't want to watch this movie very much initially but I'm glad that I did. This is the second time I've watched it and I find it one of the funniest Disney movies. It's a great story, beautiful animation and just a really well-done, enjoyable movie to watch. I find it very endearing. Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson is hilarious and I'm a huge fan of Jermaine Clement who plays a giant crab. It's tough to make it on the top 100 list because, after all, it is The top 100 funniest movies of all time so it's full of incredible comedies. That being said, even though this movie did not score high enough to make it on the top 100, I can't say enough great things about it. Really loved it! If you haven't seen it, you're missing out. Would I watch it again? Absolutely! Chuckles 32, Laughs 7, Belly Laughs 4
Notes: This movie is weird, awkward, moronic and mostly uncomfortable to watch. Those ingredients can work when everything is "right" but it only sort-of does in this movie. Mr. Bean doesn't talk throughout the movie, just mumbles perceptively and uses sometimes amusing facial expressions to convey his thoughts. The story features a 4-Star General who graciously donates $50M for the Art Museum in Los Angeles to obtain the famous painting, "Whistlers Grandmother." I've never heard of anyone in the military at any level with that kind of cash so that was amusing (the General played by Burt Reynolds). Anyway, there are a fair share of chuckles and a few belly laughs. Mr. Bean did blow up a barf bag (with barf in it) and popped it over a sleeping passenger in an airplane. Would I watch it again? Nope. |
