Animal Crackers (1930) - 108 Points
Notes: I had no idea this would be my top scoring Marx Brothers movie. I've not watched all of them yet but my favorite movie and what I thought was the funniest movie has always been Duck Soup but these guys were on fire in this movie. Their style is fast-paced, anarchic, and brilliantly absurd, built on rapid-fire wordplay, physical chaos, and a complete disregard for authority. Their humor blends clever verbal wit (especially Groucho’s sharp one-liners), surreal visual gags (Harpo’s silent mischief), and escalating situational mayhem that often dismantles social institutions like high society, academia, or government. At its core, their comedy thrives on controlled chaos — smart, subversive, and gleefully unpredictable. That's what this film delivers for me. Would I watch it again? Yes.
